About Department

Civil Engineering Department at Government Polytechnic Arvi is committed to producing competent diploma engineers equipped with the technical skills required in construction, infrastructure development, surveying, and environmental engineering. With modern laboratories, experienced faculty, and a curriculum focused on practical learning, the department trains students in structural analysis, building materials, drafting, estimation, and fieldwork. Emphasis is placed on quality, safety, and sustainable engineering practices, preparing students for industry roles as well as higher education opportunities.

Mission

1. To impart need based technical education in Civil Engineering.
2. To modernize departmental laboratories and facilities.
3. To train faculty and staff , to meet challenges in a socio-technical environment.
4. To inculcate values and ethics among students.

 Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  1. Provide socially responsible, environment friendly solutions to  Civil engineering related broad-based problems adapting professional ethics.

  2. Adapt state-of-the-art Civil engineering broad-based technologies to work in multidisciplinary  work environments.

  3. Solve broad-based problems individually and as a team members communicating  effectively in the world of work.

Program Outcomes (POs)

  1. Basic & Discipline Specific  knowledge: Apply knowledge of basic mathematics, sciences and engineering fundamentals & engineering  specializations  to solve the civil engineering problems.
  2. Problem Analysis: Identify & analyze well defined civil engineering problems using standard methods.
  3. Design Development of Solutions: Design solutions for  well defined technical problems and assist with the design of system components or processes to meet specific needs in the field of  civil engineering .
  4. Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing: Apply modern  civil engineering tools and appropriate techniques to conduct standard tests and measurements.
  5. Engineering practices for society, sustainability & environment: Apply appropriate technology in the context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices in the field of  civil engineering .
  6. Project Management : Use  engineering management principles individually as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well defined civil engineering activities .
  7. Life-long learning: Ability  to analyze individual needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes in civil engineering and allied industries.

  1. Construction Planning and Designing:  Perform optimal civil engineering construction, planning and  designing activities of desired quality at optimal cost. 
  2. Construction Execution and Maintenance: Execute Civil engineering construction and maintenance using relevant materials and equipment.
